Are you drinking water responsibly?

The top three human physiological needs are Air (breathing), Water (hydration) and Food (nourishment), yet we often forget to have a drink of water until we are thirsty.  As the seasons change so does our need for hydration, particularly in the summer.  Singers not only require water as part of our physiological need, we also need systemic hydration to help our voice sing with ease and recover.  Particularly when we are learning to sing there is nothing more frustrating than having a dry throat and mouth whilst trying to make the sounds that would be otherwise easier with a good level of hydration.

I have created a poster with nuggets of information about the benefits of drinking water responsibly.  Feel free to print it out and put it somewhere to remind you of the importance of hydration, not just for day to day life, but also the valuable role it has to play when you are singing either in practice, a lesson or performance.

Here’s to keeping your vocal folds happy and healthy while you sing.

Cheers!
